SCIENCE BASED FORMULATIONS

We as a nation spend more than $32 billion a year, on approximately 85,000 different “Supplement” products.

Many supplements do not work, have no efficacy, and do not deliver to the consumer.

The FDA defines supplements as:

A dietary supplement is a product intended for ingestion that contains a “dietary ingredient” intended to add further nutritional value to (supplement) the diet. A “dietary ingredient” may be one, or any combination of the following:

  • a vitamin
  • a mineral
  • a dietary substance for use by people to supplement the diet by increasing the total dietary intake
  • a concentrate, metabolite, constituent or extract

What we as consumers want, is to know that the product we are buying:

  • will be absorbed in the body
  • the supplement gets to where it needs to “in the body”
  • the supplement has a beneficial or positive effect (does what it represents)
  • and that the supplement is not harmful, with minimal or no side-effects or toxicity

In order for any of this to occur, we need to consider the science of pharmacokinetics. The general understanding of the four factors that influence how a supplement performs in the body when we ingest it can help us evaluate the plausibility of the supplement’s efficacy claims. The four factors are absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination.

In today’s digital world, when we try to understand a supplements efficacy, we look to “Google” or the internet for answers. This is a very arduous journey as one must research the source, and then wade through all the subjective opinions. The real scientific answer is in the clinical trials, the scientific technical papers and Patents (supported by real studies and testing evidence and their results).

The Mega Blend supplements available from WG Health & Wellness are created by Dr. William Wismann based on peer reviewed scientific human health studies and rigorous research.   If you enjoy reading scientific evidence and are interested in understanding the research more deeply, the following link provides access to over 250 Scientific Technical Papers and Patents for all the ingredients of our Mega Blends. If you are still pining for more captivating scientific evidence, there are several web resources you can use to look up data on individual ingredients. You may find a style of writing and presentation from one of the websites more preferable to another. For instance, if you are a scientist or doctor, you may prefer the NCBI or if you are a casual consumer, then Science Direct, Healthline, Science Daily or Medical News Today may be more for you.
